WLH was established by Maja Woodland-Hill, a chartered architect with extensive experience across the design sector, underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of the RIBA stages 1-7.
Maja pursued her architectural studies in Scotland, where she attained a Master’s degree in Architecture. During her academic tenure, she gained invaluable hands-on experience by working part-time at a local practice in Dundee. Following this, she completed a year-long placement in the Western Isles of Scotland, collaborating closely with the company director on a diverse range of residential and commercial projects. This combination of practical exposure and academic rigor provided her with an in-depth insight into the industry at an early stage in her career.
Upon graduating, Maja joined a prestigious, award-winning firm in Cambridge, where she progressed to the position of project lead architect while concurrently completing her Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture. Her projects, which encompassed multi-residential developments, student accommodation, and office buildings, significantly enhanced her expertise in managing complex assignments within the city's rich heritage context, including both new builds and refurbishments. Following this, she transitioned to another well-regarded practice in Cambridge, where she continued to excel as a lead architect on critical projects, including the student accommodation development for Downing College.
Maja’s experience with sensitive buildings within conservation areas, alongside her involvement in technically demanding projects that necessitate both innovative thinking and technical acumen, has established her as a skilled designer and an industry professional. She exhibits exceptional competence in the management of intricate projects, adeptly coordinating with a wide array of consultants and stakeholders, including town planners and clients.
