What we do

Principal Designer

Any projects requiring a new Building Regulations applications (from domestic house extensions to multi-storey offices) now require two duty holders to be appointed : 'Principal Designer and Principal Contractor'.

Under the new Building Regulations, the Principal Designer is required to plan, manage and monitor the design phase and to coordinate matters relating to the design work comprised in a project. We work closely with the clients and the design teams to ensure that compliance with Building Regulations is met,  as well as oversee the design process and liaison between all parties to ensure effective co-ordination and exchange of information -  key aspect of the Principal Designer duty holder.

Who should be a Principal Designer?

RIBA considers architects who are already well experienced in being a lead designer to be most perfectly placed for the role of Principal Designer. This is where where we stand out from other professionals on the market; as the founder and director of WLH I have over 10 years of experience in architecture,  I am a RIBA chartered member and an ARB accredited architect. I fulfilled the role of the lead designer on multiple projects across many sectors and have in-depth understanding of project running as well as the Regulations - exactly the level of competency that the policy makers envisaged for principal designers. While there are any professionals today from various backgrounds fulfilling the role, WLH has the experience, skills and qualifications to provide an excellent service for your project.
